Student teacher pleads guilty to sex with boy, 14

A Gilbert woman who was a student teacher at South Valley Junior High School in the Gilbert Unified School District pleaded guilty Wednesday to three felony counts of attempted sexual contact with a minor.

Jeri Deanne Perez, 38, who was arrested Jan. 30, was accused of engaging in sex with a 14-year-old who was not a student at the school. The boy was the son of one of her friends.

Perez will be sentenced June 15. She faces a prison term of 5 to 15 years. She will be required to register as a sex offender and will be placed on lifetime, supervised probation.
